LG TV BOX IS IN BAD SHAPE
My new 65 inch QLED TV arrived today. The box it came in is in pretty bad shape. I'm not going to open it until i take some pictures first. This is by no means is a cheap product and even if it was, is there not some process in place to handle with care? All i can hope for is that it has been packaged tightly enough by the manufacturer with lots of styrofoam surrounding it to protect it. Pictures to follow. Not happy! - Reviewed by Chalkula (Reviewed in Canada on September 8, 2019)
Let me tell you a short story about my LG Oled TV purchase
The included pictures are from my 1st purchase. As you can tell the TV was broken either from the factory or from shipping. When I contacted Amazon about the problem, they quickly sent me the shipping documents for me to return the TV and indicate d that they would ship out a new one. I had to contact the support line to find out when they would be shipping my new TV. The support rep was very helpful and was able to tell me when the TV was shipping. All of this happened over a long weekend which explains so of the issues that I had. All of this took about a week to get the 2nd new TV. My biggest complaint is that I had to re-package the TV and take it to a UPS drop off point to ship it back. That was all on my time. Since the drop off point was close to my home that was not a really big issue. The new TV came in and I am very happy with it. The picture is amazing. If I had room for a 65" that is what I would have purchase but the 55" will do. I have cable, a blue ray and a PC connected to the TV and all 3 units were detected properly by the LG WebOS software. Moving from cable, to NetFlix or Prime video is super easy with the included controller. While pricier than other 55" TV I think that OLED is the wa y of the future for now. - Reviewed by Guillaume Pelletier (Reviewed in Canada on November 22, 2019)
The best picture quality I've ever owned
The LG C9 is only imperfect in the sense that LG, like all other pseudo-dystopian companies, tries to cram fake AI into their delivery to justify spying for their own profit line. You have to agree to at least one of their spy tech in order to complete the setup of the C9. The good news is you can avoid all of that by just using your own equipment instead of the bloated software loaded onto the C9.I would have preferred a device without ThinQ AI.The rest is impeccable. The C9 has by far the best picture quality I've ever seen on a screen. - Reviewed by Lance (Reviewed in Canada on July 28, 2019)
Purchased this TV July 9, now have a line running down the screen
Barely 7 months in and this TV is a dud as far as I'm concerned. Have a line running perfectly vertical down the scr een with another outline surrounding it. This is something I normally see on a 10+ year old plasma - Reviewed by Steve (Reviewed in Canada on January 9, 2020)
Best TV of 2019 for Dark Room Viewing
Where to start?the good.It comes pre-color-calibrated (saves $300 on getting Bestbuy to do it)It supports Nvidia GsyncIt has true blacks and vivid colors; perfect for HDRDolbly Vision and HLG and HDR10 supportFuture HDMI version support"AI Sound - auto adjusts sound"Ambient light sensor - AI adaptive brightnessProper True Black HDR certificationBlows away any LCD-based 2019 TVStarScapes (star war space scenes, etc) are Mind blowingly well done.Handles all content types, from games, sports, movies, and TV all very very well.Very low input-latency, if you are into gamingCheaper than other OLED TV brandsBetter near-black levels than the cheaper OLED models; uses dithering to avoid colour bandingthe bad?Speakers are B-rate: I had to enable the bass boost. Remote Control has an annoying layout; I would prefer a better remote for sure.WebOS is a mixed bag; I dislike it, but some people like it.Brightness is lacking -- I have it setup to HDR Bright mode and would still prefer 30% more brightness for day use.OLED burn in, while it may not be a real issue, it causes a lot of concern about leaving static images up on the TV for a lengthy time.Maximum rate at 4K is 60fps or so? Would have preferred 120.Mini-LED TV's of 2020 will be competitive, given how bright they will be and yet still contrastyA bit costly and poorly marketedConclusion:I would STRONGLY recommend this TV for movie viewing, assuming you have a room with controllable or dim lighting.I would not recommend it if you intend to have static content on the screen for 12 hours at a time, due to burn in. If you want a very large TV or have a bright room, I would also say consider some LCD alternatives as they may offer better value in those cases. - Reviewed by BC (Re viewed in Canada on October 25, 2019)
Wow.
Our "old" TV is a 55 inch Samsung that is still in good shape, but when my wife decided to repurpose a spare room as a workout room we decided to move the Samsung in there and upgrade to a 65 inch. This screen is a monster - almost a little too big for our TV room but it has fabulous colour and contrast. A bit of a struggle to mount on the stand and place on the entertainment unit (the screen is thin, and the manufacturer is very careful to point out the correct way to handle it as you are moving it about) but we love it. Have decided not to wall mount it like our last one as frankly I'm afraid we'd damage it, and given the size we decided having it on the stand is fine. Totally different setup for cable box, blueray player and audio receiver than I had with my last TV (where everything was connected to the audio receiver first) - I just ended up plugging everything directly into the TV and there is an o nscreen menu that lets you choose inputs. Even came with an adapter for my kid's old Wii! Took a couple of hours to get it out of the box (carefully) and get it playing. Very happy so far. - Reviewed by Jon (Reviewed in Canada on August 12, 2019)
Loved it so much bought a 2nd
Excellent interface, excellent resolution and looks great too. I did a ton of research on the latest screens and was so impressed with this one I bought a second for the basement after I confirmed the reviews were spot on. A little pricey and actually a little difficult to handle because the screen is so thin but once you have it installed it's all worth it!
