Can't Disable Soap Opera Effect: Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware,This TV does not have an option to turn off the "soap opera effect" or motion blurring. I cannot believe that a TV built in 2019 didn't even have the option the adjust that setting. Would be 5 stars if that weren't the case... Price and picture are the best deal going, but the permanent soap opera effect is incredibly disappointing. Perhaps they'll fix this with a firmware update

The best compromise for smart TV, but the Roku remote is unethical!!
I like Roku, this is my forth system, after two Roku sticks, I switched to Roku TVs because if you have a Sony or a Samsung smart DVD player or TV, you quickly end with an orphan OS, not maintained: after two or three years there is no app updates anym ore (worst in the case of a Sony BD player BDP-S6500, bought on Amazon (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B010R117MQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) they downgraded it, the apps are canceled one after another:-( ).For the price this TV is a bargain, of course they cut some corners, the power cable is very short, especially if you want to hang your TV on the wall but the plug on the TV side is not proprietary so you may be able to find another one from an older device.Only four stars! This is because the remote control is not as the one shown on the Amazon web site, the sixth picture on https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07DXT8XDQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.The problem with the remote is that you have four colored button, on all systems they are all dedicated to paying apps. Probably I am not the only one who will subscribe to at most one streaming site. So in most cases three of these button will be useless, in my case, for the three Roku remotes (see 1st picture) I use none of them! I subscribe to Amazon prime now that it is on Roku, however, buying the TV on Amazon does not give me the right to a "Prime" button on the remote. From the picture on Amazon (no brand buttons, see 2nd picture), I naively thought that the buttons were now programmable, to no avails! I find Amazon unethical for editing the picture and photoshopping the brands and Roku highly unethical, they probably sale the right to the button to the streaming companies as Netflix. But they also sale the remote to the customer, they double dip and you don't even have a Roku app button (may be the reason being that the Roku app is free). So on the four colored buttons I could have used one for Prime and one for Roku, I didn't and I am stuck on all remotes with useless buttons! If they don't want to make them programmable, they should take them away and the money saved should be used to increase the length of the power cable :-)

    Best Bang For Your Buck!
If you're looking for a great quality 4k TV on a budget, then this is the right TV for you! I watched many youtube reviews about this brand and I've heard nothing but great things, and upon unboxing this unit over the weekend I haven't been disappointed. Crystal clear 4k image, with HDR gives quite an immersive experience. I got the 43 inch version for the master bedroom and it's not too big and not too small. The ROKU operating system provides a simple and easy to use interface. I'm a Prime Video and Netflix member and there's plenty of 4k content that suits my needs. I highly recommend tv's by TCL.

    Terrible backlight bleed
Terrible backlight bleed around the entire four edges visible on a black screen. SO disappointed!! I do not own a vehicle and can't even haul this back to the post office to be returned. I was so excited given the positive reviews and am upset I didn't just purchase a higher quality TV. It responds great, picture quality apart from this is fantastic, but all I can see with Netflix or any other situation where there's black on the edges is that dreadful bleed. Have tried every combination of picture settings to minimize it to no avail :(

Good 4K TV (enable HDR on windows and play games in HDR)
TCL 55S425 is a very good budget 4K TV. Easy to use and good picture quality. To play content in HDR, attach a USB/hard drive or stream via an app, and it will detect automatically. However, playing games/movies in HDR from a PC/laptop is tricky and not straightforward. It took me a bit of time to figure it out, so I'm listing the steps to get HDR working with PC/laptop.Step 1: Check if your graphics card (GPU) supports HDMI 2.0. Search the model number of GPU and see which version of HDMI it has.For windows only (PC): Right-click on the windows icon (left bottom)-> Device Manager->Display Adapters-> there you will find the GPU model number (could have multiple here). Quick reference GTX 1050 and above have HDMI 2.0Step 2: Setup your TV and set the HDMI 3 ARC to HDMI 2.0.On your TV: Settings -> TV Inputs -> Select your PC on HDMI 3 ARC -> HDMI Mode->HDMI 2.0->press OKStep 3: Connect your PC (HDMI 2.0 Port) and TV (HDMI 3 ARC). If everything is compatible, then you should see a display.Step 4: Set the TV resolution to 4K on your PC (3840x2160), if not set by default and verify if it's running at 60HzOn PC: Right-click anywhere on desktop-> Display settings -> Advance display settings -> You should see all the connected monitors/TVs, and it should say 55S425CA Refresh rate 60Hz (in my case it was running at 30Hz had to do some troubleshooting) in SDR color space. We are done with the basic setup.Step 5: On your PC: In the di splay setting it should display all the connected monitors as 1,2,3... click on the TV (if you cannot find the TV click identify). There should be a new option HDR and WCG (see the picture). Turn it on, and all display will flicker, and now HDR is running on your TV.Step 6: Verify HDR. Right-click anywhere on desktop-> Display settings -> Advance display settings -> you should see 55S425CA, and now color space will be HDR (see the picture).Step 7: On your TV: Click "*" on the remote control, and it should show that TV is displaying HDR content (see picture).Final words: If games support HDR and setup is similar to above, then games should auto turn on the HDR mode on the TV. I verified it using Destiny 2.Update: Reduced one star. When watching something in full screen, the screen will flicker at the beginning like playing next file (HDMI connection). It could get annoying pretty fast.
